Why Taiwan 台灣，為什麼?

Besides the obvious my wife, there is many good reasons for why we decided to settle down in Taiwan. When I met my wife during my Ph.D studies in USA we were thinking of moving to Sweden after I graduated. Before we got a chance to do so, we went to a vacation to Taiwan. I fell in love with the country. It is very convenient to live in Taipei. Excellent public transportation, cabs are really cheap and people are extremely friendly. I think Taiwan will see drastic growth in the number of international visitors in the next couple of years. It has a fascinating mixture of Japanese, western and Chinese culture. I really love Japanese food and you can get it for less than half the price in Taiwan compared to Japan. 

除了我老婆是台灣人之外，我們會決定在台灣定居有更多有利的原因。當我在美國讀博士班的時候認識我的太太，我們有考慮要搬到瑞典。在我們付諸行動之前，我太太帶我到台灣度假，我因此愛上這塊土地。台北市一個非常方便的都市，除了良好的公共交通工具之外，計程車也非常便宜，除此之外，台灣人真的非常友善。我覺得未來兩三年台灣一定會有越來越多的外國觀光客來旅遊。這裡綜合了日本，西洋和中國的文化，非常迷人。像我非常喜歡吃日式料理，在台灣可以用不到日本的一半價錢吃到非常美味的日本料理。

Taiwan is also a great place for being self-employed, especially if you are a poker player. Everything is cheap, taxes are low and Macau is only 90 minutes away. Taiwan is an up and coming poker-country and several Taiwanese players have had great success at the international poker circuit. I hope to add my name to that list in the near future, and help promote this fascinating game in Taiwan.

如果你想自己替自己工作，尤其是當一個撲克玩家，台灣是個很好的選擇。在這裡的生活開銷大部分都是便宜的，稅也很低，而且離澳門也只有90分鐘的飛行時間。撲克在台灣的市場是很有潛力的，而且有許多台灣的撲克好手也在世界級的比賽裡拿下不錯的成績。我希望有朝一日我的名字也會在那成功撲克選手的名單上，幫助台灣推行這個非常迷人的遊戲。
